Latest News News Update for Desire 2012.
Happy New Year to you all, and we all look forward in seeing a lot of old faces and a few new ones in the coming year.
It's been nonstop here since the season came to an end. Adding more fish stock to Desire 1, thirty carp from 22lb to 35lb boosting the stock levels. We have taken nearly all the shrubs/ trees out between swims 5 & 6, opening up a better view of the water from the social gazebo area.
What else has been going on? We finally got the permission to dig the green belt of land as you enter our property, (yip-pee) so work has started on that. Hopefully it will be done and dusted in the next few weeks and will look as good as new as if it's always been there. Also we decided after talking to most of our customers throughout the season of 2011 who came to Desire, to build a dam wall in the main lake to divide the lodge end off, to make it a separate lake of approx 2 acres. As it was not being fished much because of the social side of Desire. Nearly all bookings are whole lakes and they all stay on the horse shoe as we all call it, to fish with their mates and help one another out. The work is now done on the dam wall.
The diggers have been in, first they built the dam wall by taking out some of the lake bed to build it up from both sides, so this will now give swims 7-11 a margin to go to with more depth and once the dam wall is firm you will be able to walk along and bait up. Swim 12 will become more of a stalkers corner. This has all gone to plan and worked really well. Once the dam was completed, all the water in the lodge end (now Desire 2), was pumped out and all Desire 1's fish were netted and placed back in Desire 1. The diggers then came in to Desire 2 and went to work on the lake bed creating more depth all over with some nice new lake bed features. We have left two small islands in, but there's more to come, the work has not stopped there on the lodge end, swim 13 now has a bridge to it. Once more the lake has been scraped back to create an island to fish from where two anglers will be able to fish and cover the whole of Desire 2, you still have swim 14 next to the lodge. All the decking has now been taken off and replaced with shingle to open up the view of the lake. A lot of the trees have been cut down opening it right up. In the next two weeks we will be putting a gazebo down there and replacing all the gravel paths, along with a lot of grass seeding. The new fish stock will be arriving at the end of Feb.
In the pipeline - new website www.carpedorfishing.co.uk which we have just started work on, well our web guys have, so please bear with us over the next month or so for photos ,maps etc.. but in the meantime if anyone who is coming to Desire in 2012 wants a copy of the new layout please email us at info@carpedor.co.uk or give us a call 00 44(0) 1234 741155. We are also trying to get our heads around Face book. We are registered as carpe d'Or fishing so i believe we will be able to add some photos of the work at desire and keep you all updated once i know how to work it.

Desire news report - August 2011
The first week of this month we welcomed back our match anglers to have another bash at the "poison chat", and they did us proud again with a total of 447lb caught on the float!!!!! They worked very hard at them again. Also in the evenings banked some nice carp a total of 39. With young Matty landing 2 new PBs to 37lb7oz, Minky also walked away with a new PB mirror at 33lb8oz, Barry with a PB mirror at 39lb and Ricky with a PB common at 31lb4oz.
Well done guys thanks for all your help.
The rest of this month see some very good fishing with nearly a total 200 fish banked with a very good amount of 30lb fish among them as well as a few 40's and many 20's and forgetting "min" who banked a PB mirror at 50lb4oz.
Many of this month's captures can be viewed in the picture gallery.
Many various baits have been going in again this month but main baits that have been banking the most fish were our own "kellor", mainlines "cell" and ace baits "fruity crab" fished over lake parti mix.
As for the weather this month, it was like going back to April at one point with hats, jackets and waterproofs with very strong winds, then a spell of heavy rain and storms, Then among all this the temperatures were also reaching 35 degrees.

27/8/11 news update
at long last..........
one of our regulars "Botham" has not long arrived and putting up home for the week and just dropped his 3rd rig out for the evening and its ripped off and produced a new PB for him banking the cat at 87lb. This is nearly been two season's since anybody has managed to land it, well done to you Botham.
Pictures on the web site gallery at the end of the month.

16/8/11 news update
exclusive regulars to Lac Desire from London had a good weeks fishing with "min" banking one of our 50lbers, with a new PB mirror at 50lb2oz.

Desire news report July
Finally this month we had a break in the weather with much rain and winds, and the Fishing turned on overnight.
A few new PB's were achieved for Norman a 43lb10oz common. A 50lb4oz mirror for Steve, first timer to France. Ronnie having 3 PB's 41lb4oz mirror, then a 40lb common and 24hours later a 48lb common. Our jay with a new PB common at 40lb, and also our Kieran with a PB mirror at 48lb12oz.... Well done guys.....
These pictures plus many more for this month can be viewed in the picture gallery.
As stated at the start of this month's report the weather turned for the better, we are now getting the conditions we should have had for April/May..............
A little back to front we know, we and our guest's are even back to putting jackets on of an evening,
And sometimes even during the day!
The fish are responding well to most boilies, fished over particle mix, pellet at this time of year is attracting a few of the poison chat, we do believe that we are getting on top of these as this is our best year for them not interfering with the hook baits. Fishing is still not on par with previous years, but let's just hope August fishes as well.........

News update 09/07/2011
The weather has took a good turn around for our guests after a very hot May & June. At the moment the fish are loving strong winds and much need rain.
Steve has banked one of our 50's at 50lb4oz mirror and his new PB, and the fishing has picked up all round.

June 2011 news letter
Hi to all,
What a very strange month that June has been, fish still haven't really picked up on the feeding since spawning in the middle of may. The weather is still red hot and we believe this is playing a big part
on why the fish are not feeding as well as they should be. It's been the driest and hottest spring into summer we have ever witnessed out here.
For 3 weeks of this month was very little fish out, and the last week they have started to get their heads down and this is producing a few more fish, possibly down to some good strong winds and some much welcomed/needed rain.
Some of this month's captures can be viewed in the picture gallery, with a few new PBs among them and fish caught to 40lb, none of the big girls were caught this month.
Let's hope i have better reports for July

MAY Catch Report:
Hi ladies & gents, well that's another month gone and some great fishing & relaxing was had by those who visited us. The first half of the month producing many fish and the bigger percentage of fish were 30lb plus, and not forgetting a few forties and another 50lb mirror and a very good back up of twenties.
The second half of the month started well with another 53lb9oz common, a couple more 40lb plus fish and a fair share of 30's & 20's being banked, but then the spawning period started on the 19th and a little the following week. We don't think at this point they have finished as they generally go at it for a good 3 days in some rushes between pegs 3 & 4, but not this year as yet, or is it still too early, as previous years its been the end of May into June. So as it does, this has slowed the fish down on feeding. If they should start again we will keep the site updated.
Overall there were still 137 fish banked, with new many new PBs among them, many of these captures have been added to the fish gallery, but more importantly many fish were also missed/lost. This could have put at least a third of the number again on the bank, if not more. They are still quite a young stock with soft mouths, 14mm and 16mm boilies with a bright 10mm pop-up has been the main catching combination over a bed of particle and carp pellet.
The weather has remained very hot for this time of year, as hot as what we would expect for July and with still very little rain, just a couple of showers.

News Update 20/05/11
Fish have started spawning today, this hasn't put all the fish off from getting there heads down. Rich who has already banked 2 new PBs this week. A 44lb mirror, and has gone and banked one of the big commons today at 53lb12oz.

News Update 9/5/11
Gary has landed himself a new PB in the shape of a 50lb mirror, photo will be in the gallery next week.

APRIL REPORT
Well April was a great month regarding the fishing, but not quite as good as previous seasons.
This we are putting down to, the weather, still no rain, only a three hour down poor towards the end of the month and temperatures into high twenties. Very little wind and any to speak of have come from the north/east. We believe if this continues we will see the carpe do an early spawn
next month..................
Back to the fishing, we where visited by some great groups, mainly repeat bookings who had some great times and captures with just shy of 150 fish banked and many new PBs with fish banked to
50lb2oz a stunning mirror, a good amount of 40's and even more impressive the amount of 30's and many of them upper thirties and of course a fair share of twenties. Many of this month's captures can be viewed in the photo galleries
Please keep an eye on the news reports for any "news flashes" throughout the month.

MARCH REPORT
Well the weather was fantastic with crystal clear blue skies along with much sun shine and only one day of rain, the evenings did still drop off with the odd slight frost, but that didn't stop the fish feeding for some great friends that visited us with over a 100 fish banked, with 12 forties, many thirties and good amount of high twenties, and the first 50lb of the year came out to dale and a new PB for him, new PBs where also had for mike at 45lb10oz, Jason at 49lb, Andy at 39lb, Jim at 35lb8oz
Some of these captures plus many more are in our 2011 gallery.

2011
Hi to all, well winter has finally come and gone, November and December threw some big freezes and fair share of snow at us. This didn't stop us getting on with our improvement and maintance program.
A few more trees have been fallen around various parts of the lake to help with more wind on the water, to help with oxygen levels, and less leaves to collect next autumn. Along with trees being removed some quite big "crack off willows" have been removed at pegs 2, 4 & 5 and 6 to help with casting and banking fish. A new/ bigger timber social gazebo has been built with lighting and cooking work top, and new bench seating around the fire pit.
The reception/greeting area has been extended with a wooden roof to help for all weathers, and new picnic tables.
The best part of time this winter was spent working on the bottom stock pond. All the large and i mean very large crack off willows surrounding the water have been removed. Along with all the roots, the pond has also been re-shaped and made a little bigger and then landscaped where necessary to create "petit desire".
We have then added another 5 thirties to its existing stock, march see a couple of our guests nip down for an hour or two and banked fish to 37lb.
The first week of March we had our work party for the final clean up ready for the season. A great team of guys Ian, Ken, Ray, Les, Mike and Jim and as last year they did some great work during the course of the week, a big THANK YOU guys. Along with the work some great fishing was had with 30 fish banked and a couple of new PBs for Mike at 45lb10 common, Les with a 39lb4oz mirror and Jim at 35lb8oz common, another 42lber was also landed, 10 other thirties all other fish where high twenties.

22/12/2010
We would like to wish all you "Carpe d'Or carpers" a very happy Christmas and prosperous new year.

NEWS FLASH
New lake Record 59lb 10oz goes to Mike.
Yes Desire is now closed, but Mike is out here doing some work up till xmas for us. So last week chopping logs up in peg two he got his rods out over 24 hour. Later the buzzers went and at the end was a stunning common of 59lb 10oz
New lake record for Desire.

01/11/2010
Not the best report for us to end a great season, as still high pressures and freezing cold conditions for the return visit of John Fielding & friends. The bad weather conditions really didn't help the fishing.
John started off well with a new PB common at 40lb8oz followed shortly after with a 40lb4oz "ghosty" well done John. Ian banked two twenties to 27lb4oz; Terry banked a nice 33lb mirror. Dave landing 2 twenties to 27lb, but sadly no fish for Stan and David our two older residents (both in their seventies). Maybe more up for cuddling up to there hot water bottles, than trying to catch fish, well done to you all.

On a final note what a great season with many new PB's, record amount of fish landed in anyone week. Plenty of banter and laughs. See many off you again in 2011 and also look forward to meeting some new faces.
A big thank you for choosing Carpe d'Or Fishing Lakes for your holidays.
Andy & Marie

25/10/2010
This week we see the return of the Dave Elvin group, fishing slowed up this week with high pressures and the first frosts arriving. Still some good fun was added with a few fish also landed. Dave himself banked a couple to 34lb12oz, Alan managed the one fish at 26lb8oz, Stuart landed four upper twenties. "Big Dave" had four to 35lb mirror, only the one fish for "Little Dave" a mid twenty. Top rod was Brian with eleven fish with some nice twenties and thirties to 36lb8oz. John great words at the end off his catch report- "great week, many thanks, see you next year and forever"

18/10/2010

12/10/10
This week's write up was done by Lee, the holiday organizer from Doncaster. The group had a great week at Desire last week, just a shame the fish weren't on the feed.
The facilities were brilliant and its a great social venue, we all enjoyed a few beers around the fire on a night while waiting for the runs. It also kept the mozzies away!
The fishing was really hard, there were fish showing but just not wanting to feed, we tried different methods and baits but struggled. Most of the fish came on kellor boilie hook baits tipped with fake maize.
Here's how each peg did:
peg 1, Nidge had 4 carp all thirties up to a PB 33.08, plus the Sturge twice at 25.08
peg 2, Si struggled and left without a fish
peg 3, Scooby had 2 carp both 25lb
peg 4, Miff had 4 carp including the biggest of the week, a 39.08 common
peg 5, Chris had 2 carp up to 28lb and for some reason had a few pike pick up his baits and was bitten off a couple of times and lost another at the net
peg 6, Will also struggled and left without a fish, well apart from a couple of chat
peg 7, Mick had 1 carp at 25.08
peg 8 was my peg i had 1 carp at 28lb plus the Sturge
lodge, Mark had 1 common a PB 34lb

18 fish banked for the week which is well down on the last 4 weeks but we still had a top hol and look forward to returning at some point and hopefully next time have a few more fish.

07/10/10

Allan G also went home a happy man all he wanted was a 30 and after losing his first 7 due to hooks, he went on and landed a 38lb 11oz mirror new PB for him. John S, first time to Desire also had some nice fish to a new PB of 35lb. Lenny only landed the one but a new PB at 27lb 8oz, Allan banked 8 with a new PB 31lb 8oz. The Match anglers are back on the "Steve Savory" remembrance week with over 400lb of chat on the banks they had to work hard to find them this year. That's about 500lb down on last year so it looks like we are making a big dent in them. Great weeks fishing ladies and gents, and the rest of the ladies some nice wine tasting done see you all next year.

Richard's lot from Sutton Ely, first timers to Carpe dOr, except for young Paul who has done some bailiff work here last year nice to see him back. Richard had five fish on the bank three 20s and two 40s to 45lb 14oz, his two 40s where on the bank within 15 mins of each over, there's not many out there who can say they had two 40s on the bank at the same time. So a Big Well done to James who banked his new PB and lake record at 54lb 10oz. I think this made up for him missing out on the 42lb in the middle of the week to young Bejay who took over on James rods while he went to the shops. James also had 16 other carp to 37lb. His dad Ken also having a good week with 26 fish on the bank and some stunners amongst them, 11x 30s to 39lb and two 40s to 49lb 8oz just missing out on that magical 50. 2010 work party Lac Desire 13th-20th March
Once again the work party was a great success seeing some of our carpe dor carpers return to give us a hand. So let me start with a BIG THANKS from Andy and I to Ian, John, Stan, Mike and Jim for volunteering to come and help us out, also Alex. A great week was had by all with some work being done along with some fishing. The guys all arrived on Saturday to get the rods out, it was a bit of a slow start on the fish front, but as the week went on most managed to bank a fish or two with some new PBs.
As for the work, they did pick up some twigs, also we added some more stunning stock to Desire in the week, with the help of all the lads. Nice one guys see you all in the year and hopeful back next year for the annul work party in 2011.

Now over to Ian who as done a nice write up of his own
A big thank you to Andy and Marie and newbie Alex for a superb week, great hospitality, and Marie's cooking is top drawer.
As for Alex ....his cooking is good, but it's his counting that lets him down!! Calm down, Calm down. LOL.

During the week we had the privilege of being involved in moving some of the stock fish about with Andy, an absolutely awesome experience to be so close to so many specimen fish at one time..........thanks again.

On the angling front PBs were smashed, to a point where Bone (John) will probably spend a life time trying to better his, first PB common at 33lb04oz, then the 43lb04oz Common....Stunning fish...photos to follow. (that said, he will be fishing Lesmont in October so who knows?) He also managed a couple of mirrors to 32.0lbs And he netted the big one all by himself in the pi**ing down rain !!!

I managed to entice the sturgeon to the net on Monday evening at 23lb04oz, but he was obviously still peckish and fell to Mike ' Frank Spencer' again on Friday pm.
Mmm Betty !

Still not sure which is the funnier, Mike or the Sturge?

I also had a new PB common at 34lbs, which will take some beating , and to cap it all I took the last fish at 8 o'clock Saturday morning a very nice 23 lbs mirror, just going to prove it ain't over till it's over.

Jimbo broke his duck on the Wednesday with a 26lb plus mirror, he had several takes but the old ' three beeps and it's on Delks ' let him down a bit, oh and did I mention his 'old ' neck. That said he wants to go back and have another go. Go on my son ......

Back to Mikey aka Frank, If you were out there with him during his week in 2009, then you will know that it's" his holiday too" !!!!
We nicknamed him Frank..........BUT it could've been Blakey from on the buses, or Corporal Jones from Dads Army....DONT PANIC !!
And whatever else you do........Don't ever tell him you are sponsored by a tackle Co.
Mike had the first fish of the week, a 28lb8oz mirror which was also
a PB.He had several mirrors out during the week, the best being 32lb14oz breaking his PB again !

Oh and did I mention his knitting skills? He is a demon with a bit of 15lbs mono !!!

And now for the hard bit .................Stan the man and the horrible 'B' word.
Not something he's used to, and he certainly did'nt deserve it. That said, he has got to be the 'cheeriest ' bloke in the world, at no time did any of his chins drop

His 'comedy runs' to beat Jimbo to the shower were 'legend'. As for the work party, us fat boys did find it hard work.........but we had fun, fun , fun.

And the first person to pass the' twigglets ' around at Christmas, is gonna get a whack !!!!

Thanks again to everybody for a great week.

The fishing has started on desire for 2010 well sort of. After working none stop on our new lake Napolen1, for the last two months, our Jays going back to England, so for his last weekend and birthday we got the rods out between us all. Andy, Carl, Hayley, myself and of course Jay so here we go.
Oh my god mega, mega freezing cold north easterly winds, and i mean freezing even during the day. Unhooking matts, weigh slings and bait boat door mechanisms were freezing up but this didnt stop us having a great time around the fire pit burning round the clock. The lovely red hot ashes became our cooking material for the weekends, food cooked on the bbq, thousands of branches & twigs raked up from mainly high winds from last Sunday and into the fire pit for our weekends warmth. So heres our final catches over the weekend !
Andy BLANK
Hayley BLANK
thats enough about the danglers (blankers) now onto the anglers. Carl was off to flying start as from Friday night with the sturge at 23lb, then mirrors at 30lb4oz, 29lb6oz and 26lb6oz. At this stage Carl is thinking the money is in the bag (as we all had a five euro flutter for the total combined weight).
Then there was Jay who is bivvied up next to Carl playing the part of his net boy, but then the tide turned and did it ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Birthday boy, top rod, PB buster, (anker) kicked into the following.................................. first fish was................................. the sturgeon and then a 24lb4oz, 22lb8oz, then a fantastic new PB at 37lb8oz mirror, followed by two more mirrors at 23lb & 31lb4oz, 23lb10ozcommon, another 32lb10oz & 35lb mirrors and to top his birthday weekend off another new PB in the shape of a stunning 37lb common (beats his 31lber at lesmont 4 years ago) net boy Carl not so happy chappy.
Finally, me, i get to use my Xmas pressies (asking myself, what I am doing here!) Wishing i got perfume & a bracelet for Xmas!!!! I then told Andy to get the bait boat for me as i want to put my hook baits over there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and guess what guys.......... over there produced TWO new PBs in under ONE hour in the shape of stunning 29lb2oz and 29lb6oz mirrors.
Once again great weekend had by all, Happy 21st Jay.

JANUARY 2010
Happy new year to all our customers & potential customers for 2010.
2009 was a great year for our guests with great numbers of carp on the bank and even better weight gains, during the close season November to mid March we are carrying out various improvements to the grounds/banks, swims, facilities and the lake itself.
We have already built 3 new islands to the north/east part of the lake (half way between pegs 8, 9 & 10 to opposite the lodge swims), by doing this we are aiming to create a more carpy area for the fish, plus more features to go at from the named swims, these where built by removing over half of the existing long gravel bar which runs parallel with the canal bank.
We have also removed much of the foliage, brambles & dead wood from the canal bank side of the lake at the same time thinning out the well over grown willows.
Other works to be carried out are extending the depth of swims to pegs 1 to 6 (as 7 to 11 have already been done).
Also carrying on with our fish stocking program thus adding another 30 carp from 25lb to 35lb this will be carried out for the end of January 2010, weather permitting.

We would also like to add we have limited spaces for 2010 & are now also taking bookings for 2011.

young Henry landing the biggest for the week at 33lb and well done to Pete who came at last minutes notice after 20 years of fishing retirement to bank a new PB at 31lb. Well done to all of you and a great social week.

Lac desire was partly closed as a carp venue last week and fished as a float lake, by a very great group of guys from the Northants area. This group of ten guys were all club members and friends of a close friend of mine, Steve Savory from Rushden. Sadly he past away not to long ago. For my respect to Steves family & fishing buddies we left last week aside for these guys to arrive for the Steve Savory remembrance week. All the guys fished their socks off on the wips/waglers rods etc. Three nail biting competitions were held over the week on catching and removing the chats. A big well done guys.
Three of the team are also carp anglers so between myself & them we helped the others to catch some carp, a big well done guys as they also managed to bank 28 carps to 37lb 8oz. We also provided trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd
